Don’t be! Scar tissue is not a bad thing. Many of us have it in some form or another from one activity or another. Scarring is natural part of the healing process, whether it’s an internal injury or external. Scarring and scar tissue can be a natural protectant/sheath for the injured area, to prevent against future injuries.

However, sometimes, the scarring/tissue can become a deterrent if not broken down correctly, this is medically called an “adhesion” and can cause issue with range of motion and flexibility, or any other activity that involves movement, depending on its location.

Some of you have had procedures done or will be having that have formed or will form scar tissue, again, scar tissue is not a bad thing, however, you should start getting the affected/operated area worked on within 2 weeks of your procedure for best results, in order to help the muscles and scar tissue fibers, learn and not become a problem. This same process happens when you work out, your muscles tear and repair and form that scar tissue in the process. Massage is proven to break down the scar tissue fibers, in order to “make the fibers even and smooth” in order for the healing process to proceed.
